Mr Sheraj Obeyesekere
Chief Executive Officer

Sheraj commenced the role of the Chief Executive Officer of SPX in June 2024. He holds over 12 years of experience in the corporate sector, having worked across multiple industries including roles at a global banking and financial services knowledge outsourcing firm, a big 4 professional services firm, an Australian Managed IT Services provider, the licensed Stock Market Operator in Sri Lanka and most recently the governing body for the sport of Cricket in Sri Lanka. His journey to leadership in capital markets commenced at the Licensed Stock Market Operator in Sri Lanka, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in 2016 where he progressed from the position of a Senior Executive to Head of Special Projects as part of the CSE CEO’s Office. During his tenure at CSE, he was involved in multiple areas at the exchange including promoting investments into Sri Lankan equities locally and internationally, the promotion of CSE’s listings platforms, branding, media relations, the digitalization of internal operations, advocacy & community engagement, fostering local and international partnerships, stakeholder relations and other futuristic special projects covering Market Data Monetization, Revenue Optimization, Governance of the Exchange & Demutualization, ESG investing and reporting, Government Relations, Employee Experience and Women Empowerment.

Ms Joana Rarasea
Team Leader Depository 

Joana joined the SPX as an Administration Officer in January 2014 and her role extended to the Registry Officer in July 2016. Joana was promoted to the Team Leader Depository role in September 2020. She plays a critical role in the operations of SPX's wholly owned subsidiary, Central Share Registry Pte Limited (CSRL) and handles various share registry tasks including driving growth by increasing number of CSRL clients and managing day to day operations of CSRL. Her day to day task includes maintaining the share register for listed and unlisted companies, processing of share transfers, taking up the lead role in client distributions, managing unclaimed dividends, handling shareholder and client queries together with facilitating corporate actions for client companies. Joana holds a Diploma in Business Studies from Fiji National University (FNU) majoring in Office Administration and is currently pursuing further education from FNU towards Bachelor of Commerce Program majoring in Finance & Management.
Ms Shyama Verma
Team Leader Listing & Compliance 
Shyama holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (majoring in Accounting and Economics), Post Graduate Diploma and Masters in Commerce (majoring in Economics) from The University of the South Pacific (USP). Shyama joined the SPX in 2018 as the Financial and Market Analyst (Intern) and assumed the Compliance Officer role in August 2019. Shyama's role was further broadened and was handed the title of the Listing & Compliance Officer in September 2020 and later promoted as the Team Leader Listings and Compliance. She is currently pursuing her Directed Research Project majoring in Economics towards the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from USP. Her role at the SPX is to ensure compliance with the SPX issued regulations and guidelines and ensure proper functioning of the stock market. She is in constant liaison with relevant industry participants including Listed Entity, Stockbroker Representatives, the Industry Regulators and has been at the forefront of Corporate Governance initiatives being conducted by the Exchange. Her expertise span in the areas of corporate governance, compliance, risk, stock market operations, corporate finance, share acquisition, corporate restructure, financial modelling and valuations, financial instrument development, feasibility studies, training and development, internal and external audits, financial statement compilation and analysis and stakeholder engagement. Shyama is also a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Member of the Fiji Institute of Accountants and has undergone a certification for Corporate Secretary Master program with the Pacific Corporate Governance Institute. In addition to her career goals, she is a strong champion of gender equality and women’s progression in the corporate arena.

Ms Rasha Ali
External Consultant
Ms. Ali, a seasoned legal consultant, holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP) from The University of Fiji. Her extensive expertise is leveraged by the SPX Group, where she is responsible for delivering comprehensive legal and company secretarial services. Ms. Ali specializes in a broad spectrum of legal areas, including Commercial Law, Corporate Governance, and Human Rights Law. Her role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, such as drafting and reviewing complex commercial contracts, advising on corporate governance structures and compliance, and ensuring adherence to human rights standards within organizational practices. Ms. Ali's contributions are integral to maintaining the legal integrity and operational efficiency of the SPX Group, supporting its strategic objectives while safeguarding its legal interests.
